Vintaj Bezel and Jewelry Resin

I think I am starting to naturally turn to the colours of Autumn. This Frida necklace is going to be my Fall 2012 go-to necklace.
A few weeks ago I managed to go to a Joanns craft store in the USA where I picked up this Vintaj bezel.  I have been wanting a few for some time and I was happy to see this piece.
I follow the Vintaj blog daily!
I sealed my paper image of Frida and then decorated around her image with paint and glue.  The paint stays dimensional when dry and looks like a pearl under resin.
The bezel is shallow, so I was very careful not to over pour my Jewelry Resin.
I had a wonderful time thinking and planning the components that would highlight the pendant the best.
This is my finished necklace!

  4. So smart + cost effective with your dots! I use small pearl studs from the scrapbook section for that effect, I never thought to simply try it that way! Thanks for the heads up =)

  5. Hi Carmi,
I am new to resin and am so glad I found your blog. Thank you for the knowledge and the inspiration! I have a few questions:
    1. Have you ever tried a two-sided casting?
    2. If you've ever used photos, did you have to use mod podge over the photo paper?
    3. I've seen you use all kinds of molds--do you use mold release?

    Many thanks!
    Rachel

    1. Hi Rachel. I have not done a double sided casting...yet anyway.
I always use a sealer over photos. Either mod podge or ultra seal.
I use mold release in the stiff molds. The baking silicone type molds are so flexible they just pop out the molds.

  7. Very nice idea with the paint dots! May I ask, did you use acrylic or oil? Thanks in advance!
