Artist: Nancy Donaldson
All of the "Resin Time is Anytime" pocket watch pieces in this post are from one artist.
Allow me to introduce you to Nancy Donaldson.
Last year, right about this exact time, Nancy went into the hospital with what she felt was a minor injury and didn't come home again for six months. Catastrophic spinal cord damage and cancer. I need not say more.
This fall I decided to give Nancy one pocket watch in the hopes she might participate in this special project. Little did I know what would happen.
She emailed excitedly to say she was full of ideas and could I possibly give her a few more watch bezels?
Because I believe art is the greatest therapy, I definitely sent her more pocket watches to experiment in.
These pieces represent the first art projects she was able to complete in 2013.
My friend is back.
She is still on a very long road to recovery...but clearly, her creativity is stronger than ever.
Nancy wire worked this pocket watch to a metal cuff.
There are crystals attached throughout.
All of her pieces feature vintage brass and metal findings.
She is a collector os rusty things.
These pieces are all real, not a picture. This bezel feels solid.
I believe Nancy has shown us how to beautifully showcase a pocket watch into a wearable art piece.
This pin, with the wire working, daisies, crystals and charms may be my favorite.
thanks carmi, it is so wonderful to create again!! art truly is the best medicine!!
