Resined Papers

This is a close up of a little sewing project.

Bet you are wondering what it is doing on this resin blog.....

I get questions all the time about turning paper into plastic.  It is so easy with a simple application of our resins to paper with a brush.  

There is however, a really fast...and much easier technique with WAY LESS messy features.

Super thin and fragile papers like these are hard to work with if you want to incorporate them into jewelry or art.

The papers you see here are napkins, tissue, Italian marble and old text books.

This is when our amazing Resin Spray comes in handy.  

(sorry, it is not available in Canada)  

I lay my scraps of paper on wax paper and simply spray them.

No muss.  No fuss.  I always do this outside or in the garage.

When they are dry, I peel them off the wax paper. 

 (You can of course work on a good non stick sheet if you have one.)

If I want them stronger, I might spray a second and third coat of Resin Spay.  I also tend to like to spray the back at least once.

You'll notice how white papers and old book pages become translucent.

When they are dry, I can even use a paper punch for my shapes.

I like to sew with them.  Paper becomes plastic.
