Little Poetry Box With Resin Filled Lid

This box would be perfect for a little girls desktop.
Okay, its for me, so big girls too!
My niece would not like this box at all.  For her, the box would be blue with scenes from The Hunger Games.  So keep the end recipient in mind if you want to create gifts.
Many of my projects are inspired by vintage imagery.  This little book of poems was in bad shape.  The pages were loose and water stained.  I knew I could save the pictures though!
I found these wood boxes at Target.  They had colour lids I did not like, so I spray painted them with my own colour choices,
I decoupaged my image with several layers of mod-podge.  This seals my paper and also glues it to the lid.
I also decoupaged some interesting tissue papers in the open space.   Then I added in all my chosen embellishments.  The mod podge also glues these into place.

It has been humid, so I let the lid and the glue completely dry over night.

My next step I did not take a picture of.
I made a small batch of EasyCast and poured it into the lid so that the depth was only about 1/2 of what I needed.  This ensures that all my embellishments are firmly in place and I can write on the surface of this cured resin pour.
Here is a closer look at some of the lines and colour I added to the first cured resin layer.
When my paints were dried a made a second batch of EasyCast and filled the lid completely, creating a smooth table top finish.
 It is so pretty!
Here are some of my inclusions.
 Everything is embedded nicely.
Now you know why I am always on the hunt for bits and bobs!
