My new project is part of a series I have been creating over the last four years.
These pendants were created with the beautiful packaging I save from a box of tea I purchase in Paris every April.
This year I fell in love with the packaging for Mariage Freres's "I have a dream" black tea.
You can see how I punched my circles right from the cardboard box. The colours of the rainbow with gold foiled accents.
I did not embellish the cardboard at all. It was beautiful as is and I simply sealed the paper before pouring Jewelry Resin over the circles glued into my bezels. Note that last week I reminded you that resin does not like the cold, so my pieces cured with my desk lamp on.
I noticed the attachments on the bezel pendants were curved, so in order to pour resin into a flat surface I placed them over this ice cube tray. This way I did not have a huge over pour situation.
The "I have a Dream Rainbow Bezels" were accented with felt.
I am so happy with the final necklace. It joins my Mariage Frere collection of "packaging to wearable art" series.
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteLovely. Some of them have a gypsey feel. Thanks for the ice cube tray idea. Some of my pours have been messier than necessary becaue I didn't think of this, Carmi.
ReplyDeleteLove the addition of the bright felt pom poms. And love how you arranged the bezels in a rainbow theme. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteVery creative packaging! Thanks for the ideas!

Hi, You stated that you sealed the package material before pouring the resin. How was this done?
ReplyDeleteI always love to see this series as it unfolds. What a great way to use up the pretty packaging! Enjoy the day. Erin
