In yesterdays blog post I showed you how I backed a clear resin bird with japanese paper in order to create some unique components for a necklace. The same idea applies if you want to make embellishments for cards or scrapbook pages.
Clear resin is difficult to photograph. These little embellishments were made in a mold and I knew that I had several options for adding some colour to them later.
My favorite technique is to just glue Japanese paper to the back of each piece.
When the glue has dried (you need one that dries clear) you will have a unique set of embellishments that you would not be able to find in a store.
Here they are before I added the last felt flower.
where do you find molds like this? are they candy molds? do they need mold release? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Jules, they are indeed candy/fondont molds. I got them at Michaels and I believe I have four of them. I really like them because they are flat and you do not need a release at all. Also, in case you do not know, when you pour resin into a mold it can no longer be used for food...so if you want to decorate a cake , do your cooking projects first and then bring the mold into your craft zone.

DeleteWhat clear-drying glue do you use when adhering your paper to the back of your resin pieces?
ReplyDeleteI use Mod Podge or Aleenes Decoupage medium. Both dry clear and are both a glue and a sealer.
