I have a stunning new feather pendant!
In yesterday's Part One post I had already painted a glaze layer on the front and then the back side of the feather. This picture explains why I need to make time to ensure I can do three and possibly four glaze layers. After the back was cured, I flipped it over and it was clear, the front was only super shiny in a few areas. You won't believe how much resin a feather will absorb!
Glaze Coat Three:
I painted a thick layer of Jewelry Resin the front.
It cured like glass!
I added a finding to the top and this feather is ready to be worn as a pendant!
Wow, that's so neat. I never would've even considered using a feather~
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING! I Love it Carmi! Bev's does alot of jewellry with feathers. Pam Barnes
ReplyDeleteput that one on the project list for sure!
ReplyDeleteI bought my first easy cast kit Tuesday found your blog last night. I love it so much that I took your advice and got the EasyMold kit from Amazon just a few seconds ago. But I have to ask one thing, is there any way for me to skip back a few posts and start reading your blog from the start? I've seen the "older post" button but I'm about to go to the park to find things for me to cast so i don't have time to go back post by post. Do you have a link to one of your first pages?
ReplyDeleteThe best way to do this is to look down the side of the blog at the section called "Lables." Each theme is broken out in manageable chunks....but there is still a lot I know. EasyMold has 14 posts...that should help. EasyCast has 47 and they are in order of publishing...most recent to earliest. And.....you can always email me a direct question!
ReplyDeleteWow you replied fast! And the link I needed was at the very top. My boyfriend caught a spider he wants me to put in Amber Resin for him and I'm lovin the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to resin and jewelry making, I'm new to crafts on a whole I really love your blog, I visit very often, first time posting a comment. Could you please tell me the name of this finding? I live in Jamaica and the 'craft' stores here don't have anything to jewelry making or resin so I order everything online. I would like to know the name of this finding so I can order it online specifically. Thanks much!
ReplyDeleteHi Trish, this finding is called by two names on the package...I hope this helps.
DeletePackage reads: End Cap, and also Crimp Ends.
These are them: http://www.artbeads.com/jbb-brass-crimp-ends.html
Thanks Carmi, you're a gem :)
